MINI Cooper: The Interior

The interior is stylish and retro-like, there are even ivory-like inserts, recorder, and an air bag in the steering wheel.

Considering all other parameters everything is done honestly and in the right way: unsophisticated panels, flat doors with thin window frames, glove compartment of a cigarette block size, and the simplest heater possible.

The car is like an English version of a "Zaporozhets" however with a crosswise engine and front-wheel drive, which was a revolutionary solution for the time and an indispensable condition for a modern car. There is almost no electronics at all, which is rather curious. There is no ABS, no stabilization system, no electric window lifts so the car is more of a "bare" steel construction and still, everything you may need is at hand.

The car is very low just like Mini One: you are sitting with your knees raised and your hands on an almost horizontal steering wheel. The gas pedal is some 5 cm lower than the clutch and brake. The look-out angle leaves much to be desired: there is no way you can notice anything looking at the mirrors. However this flaw is compensated as Mini Cooper has thin side pillars and large windows and therefore the visibility is good if you forget about the mirrors.
